Otech is currently executing a major project on the Petrojarl Varg FPSO. The vessel is owned by Teekay Offshore Production. The project includes removal of 2 thrusters, 10 fairleads and 6 bend stiffeners in addition to hull cleaning before it’s voyage to Singapore.

In the beginning of October, Otech´ s team has performed a project on the beautiful island of Mauritius (Port Louis). We had the pleasure of working for Diamond Offshore again. Their new semisubmersible rig, Ocean Great White, was inspected in Port Louis and is already on her way.

Otech increase its activity for traffic north/south bound
The strategic position of Gran Canaria makes it a preferred location for many to stop for rapid service and maintenance. Otech Spain can as a result of increased north/southbound traffic report more than 60% higher activity level first half of 2018 compared to 2017.
“We see that the traffic increases in some segments as a result of more activity in Senegal, Ghana and other West African countries” comments David Bustillo – Area Manager.
Both the port of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria and Santa Cruz de Tenerife have been locations for service operations delivered so far in 2018.

Six azimuth thrusters replaced
Otech completed the replacement of six Aquamaster thrusters at Westcon Yard in Norway. The operation marked the 6th visit to Leiv Eriksson for the Otech team.
The 5th Generation Deep Water Semisubmersible Drilling Rig, has successfully operated in harsh environment since 2001.
Apart from the Thruster replacements the rig also performed other intermediate class works at Westcon.

Light Diving Craft - operations increase
There is a significant increase in the interest for LDC Diving operations in 2018 says Morten Sørenes - Managing Director Otech Marine Services Norway.
First half of 2018 has generated more than 40 million NOK in revenue from such operations and compared to 2017 the use of Light Diving Craft diving in the North Sea has increased. Morten Sørenes expect this trend to continue.
“Although it has its limitations in respect to diving depths, the use of a customized LDC allows unique access to shallow water areas and operations that is not suitable for WROV. The LDC seems to become popular because it provides operators the benefit of reduced cost in form of a fully self-sufficient operation with a small diving organization. Our success as a service provider depends on our ability to help customers cut costs. For the client this can be in the form of minimum lost dayrates, reduced shipyard costs, no need for quay hire, mooring analysis and more.”

Otech establish branch office in Algeciras
Strategically located on the Strait of Gibraltar, the Port of Algeciras can be seen as one of the leading ports in the Mediterranean.
To serve existing clients Otech has completed registration process with local authorities and will establish a local branch office in Q3 2018. The new branch office will form part of Otech Spain and will be reporting to headquarter located in Las Palmas, Gran Canaria.
“We are now looking for the key personnel, and completing the administrative processes for the establishment. The location of Algeciras is a natural step for our expansion, we now provide local presence in this important region and the entrance to the Mediterranean in addition to the West African traffic.” says Area Manager – David Bustillo
The branch office shall according to plan be fully operational by end of Q3 2018.
