In 2012 Otech Marine Services was given the contract to perform a Special Periodic Survey of the Drilling Rig Eirik Raude.
In addition to the routine operations such as valve overhaul, thruster replacements and UWILD inspections, Ocean Rig required the Rig to install a new cathodic protection system.
The project required the current sacrificial anode system to be replaced by a new Impressed Current Cathodic Protection System and all works were to be completed during a period of maximum 28 days as a turn key project.
For Otech Marine Services the planning and procurement started 6 months prior to the planned mobilization date, with engineering, procurement of ICCP hardware and producing installation drawings, plans and obtain approvals from Class society for the scope of work.
A large amount of electrical and piping works was performed during the transit of the vessel from Africa and once in location the final installation works including cofferdam installations, cutting of hull penetrations from inside ballast tanks and installation of the new cofferdams, anodes and control system was done. The project was completed before plan in 24 days.
